Veteran's Day

Thank you to Lieutenant Colonel Virginia Logan, a retired Air Force officer for speaking to the BHS Students about Veteran's Day.

Colonel Logan grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from a state college there, certified to teach Jr/Sr High Math. Instead she decided to join the Air Force, and after officer training, was assigned duty in Texas where she met her husband, who was in Air Force pilot training there. After their time on active duty, they returned to her husband's family farm in Gustavus and joined the Air For Reserve Unit in Youngstown. After working there for 12 years Col. Logan transferred to the Pennsylvania Air National Guard and served an additional 12 years.

During her time in the service, she trained and worked in may different career fields, earning numerous medals and awards, and several "first woman ever to do this" recognitions. She retired after her 28 years' service and went back to teaching math.

She now stays active in the American Legion and numerous other church and community organizations. She is also a substitute teacher and volunteer math tutor at Badger High School.

Colonel Logan spoke to the BHS students about why we celebrate our veteran's and how to best show our appreciation to them.
