On 9/11, Patriot Day, we honor and remember. This week's lessons in grades 3-5 focused on perseverance, dedication, community helpers, local and national government structure and services. They learned about (and attempted) the 110 floor challenge. They had a visit from the Mesopotamia Fire Department and Farmington EMS. They learned about what our first responders do to keep us safe (and how Heavy their gear is!)

Today, Wednesday, September 11, 2024 marks the 23-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. September 11 is now known as 'Patriot Day.' It is a day of remembrance for the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, which included firefighters and police officers. September 11 is considered a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Memorial ceremonies and candlelight vigils are held countrywide. Flags fly at half-staff on this day to remember that morning, and to acknowledge the heroic Americans who responded with courage, charity, and sacrifice. Bloomfield High School would like you to joing us as we honor the innocent lives lost on 9/11/2001.
